NGHTMRE isn’t content with doing his part to keep trap music relevant – he’s managed to dig up dubstep’s remains and even look good in the process. The L.A.-based DJ/producer has applied his signature sound design expertise to the half-time drum beat of the genre, resulting in his latest track, “TOUCH.”
An production driven as much by shimmering synth work as it is thunderous bass wobbles, “TOUCH” tastefully balances melody with dissonance. A sparse sprinkling of vocal samples makes for an engaging addition to the arrangement, with variations in the flow of the second drop setting it apart from the first.
“TOUCH” is one of six tracks that will be featured on NGHTMRE‘s debut EP. He still has yet to announce an official release date for the effort, but with festival season beginning he will likely do so soon.
