The folks over at Epic Games have confirmed details regarding their first piece of campaign-based downloadable content for Gears of War 3. Entitled RAAM’s Shadow, the three hour episode will be available in mid-December for the price of 1200 Microsoft Points.
We previously reported confirmation that this first piece of story-based content would feature a different set of characters than the core Gears of War 3 campaign. That is indeed true, considering that RAAM’s Shadow will take place prior to the events of the original Gears of War.
It will put players into the role of a team made up of both familiar heroes and series newcomers. You can expect to be digitally reunited with Lt. Minh Young Kim and Tai Kaliso, both of whom have appeared in the video game series before.
Comic book badasses Michael Barrick and his female compatriot, Alicia Vera, will also make appearances alongside the return of the pack’s titular boss demon, General RAAM.
“When we announced the ‘Gears 3’ Season Pass, we immediately started getting hundreds of questions from fans about what the game add-ons would be,” stated Cliff Bleszinski, Design Director at Epic Games. “We’re really excited to be lifting the curtain on the first two releases, first with the ‘Horde Command Pack’ and now with ‘RAAM’s Shadow,’ which gives fans a new perspective on the ‘Gears’ universe and is also the biggest DLC release we’ve ever made.”
“RAAM’s imposing size and strength, along with his Kryll shield, make him one of the most powerful and daunting foes in the ‘Gears’ universe,” furthered Bleszinski. “We think fans are going to have a blast unleashing hell upon the poor humans for the first time in a campaign setting.”
In an attempt to give their fans a bit more with RAAM’s Shadow, Epic Games will also be including six new multiplayer characters, a chocolate weapon set and two hundred and fifty achievable gamer points.
RAAM’s Shadow will be available on December 13 for 1200 Microsoft Points, or as a part of the game’s 2400 MSP Season’s Pass. It is the game’s second set of planned DLC, with the first Horde-related pack releasing in November.
