Coming off recent re-releases of the Sly Cooper and Jak & Daxter PlayStation 2 games on the PlayStation 3, Sony has finally announced the return of the first three games in the Ratchet & Clank series for a high-def remastering. The collection will include the original Ratchet & Clank, as well as its first two sequels, Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando and Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal.
The three games, originally developed by Insomniac Games (also know for the Resistance series and the original PS1 Spyro the Dragon games) will be ported by developer Idol Minds, and will support 1080p resolution as well as 720p stereoscopic 3D. As with the previous collections, each game will have a full set of Trophies to unlock, with three individual Platinum Trophies. The online multiplayer mode included in Up Your Arsenal will also be making a return.
The collection has been given a May 16 launch date in Europe, and a launch window for this fall in North America. Sony’s official blog cited the American version’s delay as being prepared to coincide with “something very special” to commemorate the series’ 10th anniversary.
What do you think the “special something” could be?
