Nicolas Cage gave a surprising answer on a Reddit AMA as he explained his idea for a version of Renfield that would involve him and co-star Nicholas Hoult swapping roles.
The horror comedy centers around the titular character, played by Hoult, who hopes to break free from his creator, Dracula, played by Cage, and live his own life. The film is set to premiere on Thursday, and fans had the opportunity to present questions to the film’s two stars on Reddit yesterday. One fan asked if both actors could swap a role from the other’s, which role would they do and why. Of course, in typical Cage fashion, his answer was unique, to say the least.

While we’d love to have seen Nic Cage in Mad Max: Fury Road, or Hoult in National Treasure, we have to admit, his idea does sound weird, though if anyone can pull that off, it’s the former, especially as a sort-of-similar concept has already been explored in one of the actor’s most prolific films: Face/Off.

As interesting a prospect as it is, it’s worth holding off on musing about a theoretical role reversal until we’ve had the chance to watch the two leads go at it as their intended characters in the upcoming horror comedy. Renfield sinks its teeth into theaters next month, April 14.
