While PlayStation Plus owners get to look forward to a free download of The Simpsons Arcade Game, Xbox 360 owners will get the first crack at the 1991 classic.
According to a Game Informer report, the yellow family will bring their beat ’em up escapades to XBLA tomorrow: Friday, February 3. Those shenanigans will be re-released with an 800 Microsoft Point ($10 USD) price tag. Reliving the nostalgia should definitely be worth that for fans who have been clamoring for the title’s re-release since the early days of this console generation. The addition of the Japanese ROM version of the game, four player co-op and additional content will sweeten the deal.
As we reported earlier today, PlayStation Network users will be able to fight their way through Springfield starting next Tuesday, February 7. It will be free for Plus subscribers until the end of this month.
Anyone who grew up playing The Simpsons Arcade Game will be ecstatic after hearing this news. After all, it’s one heck of a game. I remember spending hours playing it as a kid, and actually had the chance to relive those memories a couple of years ago. Even though video game technology has evolved quite a bit in the last 2o plus years, the cartoon brawler still held up very well.
