Skrillex And Jauz’ Squad Out Fills Our Bass Wobble Quota

It's hard to imagine a collaboration between Skrillex and Jauz resulting in anything short of legendary. The latter artist already took the liberty of premiering this soul-shaking banger live at Summer Set Music and Camping Festival a little over a week ago, and since then we've eagerly anticipated the release of a high-quality version.

Our excitement wasn’t for naught – “Squad Out,” featuring rapper Fatman Scoop, utilizes the kind of LFO loop bass wobbles that artists like Excision got us hooked on back before dubstep was a dirty word. While it’s safe to assume that the EDM community will lump this track into ever-popular category of bass house, we would once again like to point out that it’s irrefutably built on a breakbeat foundation.

As key figures like Oliver Heldens’ side project Hi-Lo have incorporated similar elements, it begs the question: Might bass house expose the new EDM generation to breaks the way future house recently served as a point of entry for deep and tech house?

The release is one of many brought to fans through the all-new Adult Swim Singles account on SoundCloud. While it was pushed back a couple days, it’s been received well – perhaps indicating a rich future both for the new avenue as well as Skrillex and Jauz’ continued creative endeavors.

Skrillex and Jauz’ “Squad Out” can be streamed above, but don’t cheat yourself out of all this bass by listening to it on headphones – hold out for a sound system with a proper subwoofer and do it right.
