After finding some wiggle room in his commitment to HBO’s acclaimed music drama Vinyl, Jack Quaid has closed a deal to join Steven Soderbergh’s star-studded NASCAR drama Logan Lucky.

Deadline has the scoop, revealing that the up-and-comer now joins an ensemble that features Channing Tatum, Katherine Heigl, Daniel Craig, Hillary Swank, Adam Driver, Seth MacFarlane, Riley Keough (The Girlfriend Experience) and Alien: Covenant’s Katherine Waterston. That’s a casting call that once made room for Michael Shannon, before a scheduling clash forced the Midnight Special star to bow out of the project in favor of Guillermo del Toro’s as-yet-untitled Cold War romance.

Rooted in North Carolina, Logan Lucky is pitched as a family drama revolving around two daring brothers who stage a heist during the midst of a NASCAR race. It’s a feature that has been simmering on the back-burner for some time, particularly when you factor in the ‘will he, won’t he?’ debacle that ensued before Soderbergh eventually decided to return behind the lens for the first time since Side Effects three years ago. Mark Johnson, Gregory Jacobs and Reid Carolin are on board to produce.

With an enviable ensemble in tow, Logan Lucky is expected to enter production in the coming months ahead of a theatrical release at some point next year. Currently, Soderberg is still in search of a distributor.
