‘Stranger Things’ reawakens the slumbering fandom by teasing the character return we’re all waiting for

This is the second time in one week the character has been teased... Just a coincidence?

There hasn’t been a lot going on in Stranger Things land since season four ended last July, but that could all be changing very soon.

Arguably one of the biggest fan-favorite characters in the series, Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn) has once again been teased on the official Twitter account for the Stranger Things writing team, and the only plausible assumption now is whether there’s a hint here to be had.

Posting a photo of Quinn dressed as Eddie in his Hellfire Club T-shirt and black-zipper vest, the Stranger Things writers captioned the piece with a sentiment to match Quinn’s facial expression: “Not feelin’ it.” However, if you ask any of the thousands of fans who commented on the post, they are most definitely feeling it.

For those who may have forgotten, Quinn’s character died in the season four finale. The episode was filled to the brim with emotional sucker punches, but Eddie’s gut-wrenching death was the one that shook the fandom to the core.

What makes this tease by the Stranger Things writers so notable is that it is preceded by a tweet four days earlier, on April Fools, which also referenced Eddie Munson, although not by name. In response to a fan’s inquiry as to when we’d get season five’s second episode title, the writers replied, “Chapter Two: Kas the Bloody-Handed.”

Given that Eddie Munson has been at the center of rumors that he might return as Vecna’s vampire lieutenant Kas the Bloody Handed, the response all but sent the fandom into a tizzy, April Fool’s joke or not. Couple that with Quinn’s confusing response to whether he will be returning in season five and you have yourself a trail of Easter eggs just waiting to be devoured.

Season five is still a ways away from premiering. According to Noah Schnapp, who accidentally leaked the news, cameras are set to begin rolling as early as this May, meaning it could be late 2024 or early 2025 by the time the fifth season rolls around. When it does, the climactic conclusion is set to be a culmination of all the seasons that came before it, according to the Duffer Brothers.

Here’s hoping Eddie is a part of it.
