Elizabeth Debicki is wowing fans of The Crown with her uncanny ability to shift from her persona to an impeccable imitation of the late Diana, Princess of Wales, in a heartbeat!
The Australian actor is portraying the late People’s Princess in the highly anticipated fifth season of Netflix’s fictional dramatization of the British royal family. Debicki gave fans a glimpse of her rendition of Diana in an interview with British Vogue and her performance, and fans were blown away by her precision.
Debicki told the publication that she studied video footage of an open-air press conference with then-Prince Charles and Princess Diana at Balmoral Castle. The thespian shared that she was impressed by the young royal’s quickwitted response to patronizing questions, explaining:
“One of the journalists shoots her this question, ‘Are you blissfully happy? Are you cooking him breakfast?’ and she’s so quick, and she says, ‘I don’t eat breakfast.'”
Not only does Debicki look like Diana, but she also sounds like her. Fans went wild on social media when the actor lapsed into the Princess’s distinctively shy yet firm voice.
The upcoming season of The Crown will feature a new cast to portray members of the British royal family. It will deep dive into the vicissitudes of Diana’s effort to assert herself in her own right before and after she exited her marriage to Prince Charles before her life came to a tragic and shocking end in 1997.
Season 5 of The Crown will premiere on Netflix on November 9, 2022.
