While attending this week’s Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk sat down to speak to Joystiq about Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD.
During the interview, a question was raised regarding future DLC for the game, and whether stages from Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 or 4 could make it into the downloadable revamp. As we’ve reported, the game currently boasts a stage list that is limited to the cream of the crop from the series’ first two releases.
Here’s what Mr. Hawk had to say:
“The dream of doing this is we can throw levels from 3 and 4 and make them downloadable in this,” stated Hawk. “We can use this as a foundation and platform for that. I really want this to be a foundation we build on so we can do more levels, more skaters, more content that you can download because this is kind of revolutionary to do a franchise game as only downloadable.”
“We thought we’d start relatively small and just do the best of the first two games and hope to build from there,” Hawk added, but it’s just wishful thinking right now. We followed up with an Activision spokesperson who said “Activision will see how THPS HD does and go from there.” But is it possible? “Yes, certainly,” he added.
To say that this is interesting news would be an understatement. After all, what fan of this incredibly popular franchise wouldn’t want to see levels from its other great releases included. My vote goes to the following two: Canada and Cruise Ship from THPS3.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD will be released sometime this summer.
