Following up on the raid of the popular nightlife destination of Amnesia in Ibiza that resulted in €2 million in hidden assets being seized and four individuals being placed under arrest, two more notable clubs in the Spanish party island have been the subject of similar efforts by police over the weekend.
Both Space and Privilege were raided Friday morning as part of an ongoing investigation dubbed Operation Chopin, which seeks to gain insight into the financial dealings of Ibiza’s thriving club scene. The investigation will review 87 clubs and establishments throughout Spain.
The four individuals arrested following the Amnesia raid have been released on the provision that they not leave the country and must appear before a judge periodically. At this point, it’s unclear what effect Operation Chopin will have on Ibiza‘s nightlife scene and how the raids will affect the island’s reputation as one of the world’s most foremost party destinations. As always though, we’ll keep you posted with more updates as they become available.
