We’re still several months out from the 2017 edition of Bonnaroo Music + Arts Festival, but already we’re getting our first hints at next year’s potential lineup. The festival released a clue last week that revealed Getter as the first artist on the lineup, and now it’s been rumored that U2 will serve as the main headlining act.
Sources told Billboard that the band is scheduled to hold down a number of stadium performances in the spring, which will culminate with a headlining gig at Bonnaroo in the summer. It makes sense, too, as the group shared an announcement on Christmas stating that they have “big plans” for 2017, including a 3o year anniversary tour for their groundbreaking album The Joshua Tree.
In addition to hitting the road, U2 also revealed that they’ll be releasing a new album titled Songs Of Experience, the follow up to 2014’s Song Of Innocence. Bonnaroo is expected to reveal the 2017 lineup next month, so we won’t know for sure until then if the rumors will pan out, but we’ll keep you posted as soon as any new information arrives.
Tell us, would you be excited to see U2 on the upcoming Bonnaroo lineup? Be sure to let us know in the comments section.
