The xx have been in full-on promotion mode for their upcoming record, I See You. Between performing new music on Saturday Night Live, to supporting their recent single, “On Hold,” fans of the band have really been benefiting from the recent influx. Today, we get the next part in the indie-pop group’s album cycle: the music video for “On Hold.”
Taking place in the rural Marfa, Texas, the video shows what high school life there is like – mixing in love, parties, and everything in between. The clip, which was directed by British photographer Alasdair McLellan, falls in line quite nicely with the artistic direction that you usually see in The xx videos. While “On Hold” doesn’t do anything crazy different here, its familiarity is enough to cement it as yet another solid addition to their videography.
If you can’t get enough of “On Hold,” you’ll be delighted to know that the band recently announced that they’ll be pressing the track on a seven inch vinyl single, and there’s not much that can make the song sound better more than the classic tone of a turntable.
With the exciting electronic elements and remix-ability of the lead single – plus the promising live performance of another new song, “I Dare You” – I See You is shaping up to potentially be The xx’s strongest album yet.
