It has happened, peeps. Donald Trump — who recently earned the “honor” of being the first indicted ex-president in the history of America — has been arrested. Of course, his supporters are heartbroken, with Marjorie Taylor Greene calling it a “stain on our Republic.” Seconds before heading inside the Manhattan Court, Trump tried to present an image of confidence by putting his fist in the air, but it did little to erase the harried post he put on Truth Social minutes before his arrest.
After spinning controversial lies for weeks and hoping the protests in his name would dissuade the legal system, Trump probably found himself staring at the pointy end of a reality check that after all he said, did, and fantasized about, he is still not above the law. Here is his post on Truth Social:
“Heading to Lower Manhattan, the Courthouse. Seems so SURREAL — WOW, they are going to ARREST ME. Can’t believe this is happening in America. MAGA!”
The internet should be focused on his arrest and his loyal supporters’ reactions to it – Greene started the day by fretting about noise pollution drowning out her “hate, lies, and ridiculousness” and comparing Trump to Jesus, but they can’t help but fixate on the fact that the idea of getting arrested “seems so surreal” for Trump, who is apparently having a hard time adjusting to the reality that he hasn’t yet created a world where he won’t be held accountable for his actions.
Trump’s all-caps posts on Truth Social hardly qualify as quality updates but this one is winning hearts already.
Even actor John Cusack couldn’t help but chime in.
In fact, with this one tweet, Trump has more people in agreement with him for once.
As you read this, Trump is in court to face all the criminal charges against him that haven’t been disclosed yet and so far, he has maintained his silence. Hopefully, finally knowing every point that aided in his indictment will help the former president in making peace with his predicament.
