Former President Donald Trump‘s legal troubles continue as he’s being indicted once again as a result of federal charges over classified information.
According to ABC News, Trump will be facing Miami Federal Court this Tuesday around 3 p.m. ET. The former President released a statement on Truth Social, claiming that it was a hoax, and blamed the Biden Administration. He also argued that US President, Joe Biden has done worse and he isn’t getting investigated. Trump has also argued that he’s “an innocent man” and was shocked to see that a second indictment could even happen to a former President.
ABC reported that the former US President was charged with at least seven counts in relation to mishandling classified documents. The information written in these documents ranges from national defense details to a conspired “scheme to conceal,” false statements and representation.
Trump was first indicted back in March 2023, due to allegations of sending hush money to adult star, Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election. The former President claimed back then that this was a “witch hunt” made by the “radical left democrats” and that it was “political persecution.”
Fortunately for Trump, being indicted doesn’t stop someone from running for President since there is nothing written in the Constitution that prevents a candidate with a criminal record from running for the top spot in the White House. However, it was argued on ABC that criminally prosecuting a current opposition candidate could test the country’s democratic system. This sentiment was supported by Trump’s statement, in which he claimed that he was being hunted down despite his chances in the upcoming 2024 election.
Details about this indictment and specific charges still remain unknown.
