Even casual observers of the game will take notice. Football, hockey, and even the World Series will all take a back seat tonight to the start of what promises to be one of the most exciting NBA seasons ever.
The “new” Big Three or “Thrice” will take on the “old” Big Three in an early battle for east coast supremacy when the Miami Heat travel to Boston to face the Celtics.
Joining Boston this year is Shaquille O’Neal, and of course they already had Rajon Rondo, who made quite a name for himself last year. So Boston is sort of “The Big Five” now.
This contest will be littered with hall-of-famers. Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, Lebron James, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and of course Shaq all figure to be in the Hall and probably on the first ballot.
I personally haven’t been this excited for basketball since the glory days of the 90s.
“I think the NBA did an unbelievable job of picking a great first game,” Wade said.
A lot of people are excited to see just what this Miami Heat team will be capable of but many are doubting that this team will be able to accomploish much due to a lack of chemistry.
Ha! I for one am saying this team is at least good enough to storm through the East, with the only team giving them any competition being the Celtics, who also added Jermaine O’Neal to the mix. But come on, aside from a slew of disastarous injuries, this team should win a few championships.
But it won’t be easy until the Heat get their supporting cast in order. Then again, maybe it will be. Lebron, Bosh and Wade might not need anyone else.
The Heat, the Celtics, and the world will get their first taste tonight.
