Texas Longhorns quarterback, Arch Manning, has found himself becoming a meme on the internet this week. Manning is due to start his collegiate career with the Longhorns and his arrival has been pretty hyped up. A picture showing the teenager and his fellow Texas quarterbacks working out ahead of the season shows just how dedicated they all are to getting into shape. But fans have gone to town with the jokes already.
Most of the memes are in good faith, as many expressed shock at the sudden transformation that Manning had undergone. To be fair, he is absolutely shredded in the photo, and compared to his peers next to him, he’s clearly put in a lot more work. Some on Twitter wanted to know what coaches are feeding him.
There was a lot of praise for Maalik Murphy as well; as his biceps are bigger than most of the other guys’ heads in that photo. Murphy actually got involved and made a meme himself.
There were also numerous comparisons to both of Arch’s uncles, Peyton Manning and Eli Manning, both of whom played in the NFL for numerous seasons. Although, both are retired now, whilst Arch is coming into his prime so it’s not the fairest comparison.
Some fans even pointed out how different Manning’s physique is from Tom Brady‘s during his rookie season in the NFL.
However, regardless of how fit he may be, some fans have pointed out that there’s more to being a good QB than that.
“His uncles will tell you, it’s what’s between the ears that determines the greatness of a QB.”
While there is undoubtedly hype for Manning and his chiseled physique this season, he is yet to prove himself to be on the level of his uncles. Some remain skeptical despite his solid track record during his freshman and sophomore years.
