I’m sorry to all those Tebow-haters out there, but the polls have closed, and the votes have been tallied. Tim Tebow is the most popular quarterback slinging it today. Now please excuse me while I go hit my best Tebowing pose for a second to celebrate his latest achievement…..OK, now for the rest of the story.
If you go simply off the mainstream media’s non-stop coverage of Tebow, you’d have to think his popularity knew no bounds. Thankfully, someone actually put it to the test.
Dean Debnam, the CEO for Public Policy Polling says:
“A successful campaign – political or otherwise – begins by identifying what matters to the people right now.”
I can’t think of anything more important in the world of sports, or to the “people”, than who their favorite QB might be. The people have spoken and Tim Tebow is that man.
Tebow picked up 15% of the vote, which was actually tied with the ‘someone else/not sure’ category. The Manning brothers came in 2nd and 3rd, Eli with 14% and Peyton with 12%. There was a 3 way tie at 10% for Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, and Tom Brady.
Now that Tebow has captured the love from football fans around the globe, is there a logical next step for him to take? From Public Policy Polling;
Tim Tebow is viewed favorably by 68% of Republicans but only 39% of Democrats. Just to put those numbers into some context, none of the Republican Presidential candidates are even seen positively by 68% of Republicans. He’s more popular than any of them.
Tim Tebow, President of the United States of America does have a nice ring to it. Our government may even waive that whole age requirement thing.
