10 Awesome Moments From The Westworld Season 1 Finale

The first season of HBO's sci-fi western smash hit Westworld has now come to an end with the feature-length finale, titled 'The Bicameral Mind'. As was promised by showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, it answered pretty much all of the questions that have been plaguing us over the past ten weeks - from the identity of the Man in Black to the truth about the Maze - as well as opening up some new ones that will bug us until it returns to our screens in 2018. The result was probably the show's most exciting episode so far, and one that leaves us the future of the show wide open.

From the beginning of the show, fans who are familiar with the original 1973 movie from Jurassic Park‘s Michael Crichton have been wondering if there are other parks out there besides Westworld. For instance, in the 1976 sequel Futureworld, we’re introduced to others like Medieval World and Roman World.

Amongst everything else, the finale revealed that, yes, Westworld is just one of many. As Maeve and her troupe escape Westworld, they break into the adjoining facility marked SW, filled with hosts dressed in samurai armour. Later on, we learn that Westworld is referred to as “park one.” Presumably, then, the success of the park spawned several other similar ventures.

Slotting in the reveal of the existence of other parks amidst all the other action was a welcome hint at what’s presumably to come in season 2. It certainly leaves us with lots of questions to chew over. For instance, Ford seemed to have a personal attachment to Westworld, so was he in charge of the other parks as well? Let’s hope we get a look around other worlds like this next season.
