10 Easter Eggs You Might Have Missed In The Defenders

After two years and five seasons of television, Marvel's The Defenders is finally here. The eight episode miniseries unites the stars of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist for the first time. Naturally, it also follows in the footsteps of those shows by featuring a lot of tantalizing easter eggs, references and callbacks.

Apart from Matt Murdock, none of the other characters in The Defenders go in for the whole superhero/villain outfit thing. They do, however, wear clothes that nod to their costumes in the comics.

The outfit that Alexandra gives Elektra to wear in her new role as the Hand’s assassin is a pretty good match for the character’s classic flowing red silk robes. To make it more practical, the outfit is adorned with black armoured patches as well as a cool black trenchcoat. All that’s missing is a red headband.

Meanwhile, though Marvel and Netflix are still refusing to put Danny Rand in his full Iron Fist get-up from the comics, we do get a couple of allusions to it here. In a nightmare sequence, Danny has a vision of himself spouting all his self-doubts. His double is wearing his ceremonial robes from K’un-Lun, which somewhat recall the Iron Fist costume.

Likewise, at the end of episode 8, we see Danny standing guard over New York in a green tracksuit with yellow piping. Though it’s his missing the headgear and the dragon symbol, it definitely recalls the traditional outfit again.

Lastly, Luke continues wearing yellow tees and yellow-lined hoodies, referencing his character’s yellow costume from the comics.
