The 10 Best Superhero TV Moments Of 2016

Superhero movies might have received a mixed reception in 2016, but comic book television has never been better. Both Marvel and DC expanded their respective shared universes outwards this past year and in just about every case, superhero TV shows reached a good balance between pilfering from the comic books and adapting the material to best fit the new medium. Series like Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl finally found their feet, others like Arrow got back on track and those like The Flash and Daredevil continued their winning streaks.

5) Oliver’s Dream World – Arrow

Arrow has been on a decline for a while now, so it came as a hugely welcome surprise when the show’s celebratory 100th episode turned out to be its best outing in a long time.

Captured by the alien Dominators, Oliver, Sara, Ray and Thea are placed in a perfect dream world. One where Oliver’s parents never died, he never washed up on Lian Yu, he’s engaged to Laurel and, most importantly of all, he’s no longer the Green Arrow. In the grand tradition of these sort of tales, the emotional part came when Oliver had to say goodbye to his loved ones all over again in order to return to the real world and save the day. But not before a few welcome cameos from old big bads like Deathstroke, Damien Darhk and Malcolm Merlyn.

The episode was a fan-pleasing ode to how far Arrow has come in its five seasons so far and was perhaps the best overall installment of the Heroes vs. Aliens crossover event (more on that later).
