6) A Nightwing Solo Show
Back in 2002, when The CW was still The WB and Smallville was their only other DC show, the short-lived Birds of Prey attempted to create a TV show around the Batman mythos without actually featuring Batman – instead starring Oracle, Black Canary and Huntress. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, it didn’t strike a chord with audiences and is now mostly forgotten.
In many ways, though, Birds of Prey was doing what Supergirl has managed more successfully now. Given that, could it be time for another series starring a Batman sidekick? We think so, and our pick for the lead would be Dick Grayson AKA Nightwing (the superhero identity he takes on after retiring from Robin duties). Despite being a popular comics character, Nightwing has yet to be portrayed in live-action and this more youthful superhero would fit right in on The CW.
Set in Bludhaven (Nightwing’s base of operations), it would follow Grayson’s attempts to step out of the Bat’s shadow and be his own hero. Much like Superman on Supergirl, Batman would have to stay out of the limelight for a while but could appear later on once Nightwing had been established.
Bludhaven has even been referenced multiple times on Arrow (even Oracle was alluded to once), so it wouldn’t take too much for the hero of the city to become part of that world – and eventually bring Batman with him.
