7 Ways Batman Could Join The Arrowverse

Supergirl’s second season premiere marked a huge moment in the history of the Arrowverse as it saw the first appearance of Superman, as played by Teen Wolf’s Tyler Hoechlin. Apart from anomalies like The Flash, this is a rare major instance of a character currently being used by the movie division allowed to crossover to the TV world.

The most natural home for Batman in the Arrowverse, though, would have to be Arrow. From the off, Arrow was almost more drawn from Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight films and general Batman mythology than it was Green Arrow comics. Bat-characters like Ra’s Al Ghul, Deadshot, Firefly, Huntress and even Harley Quinn have all turned up on the show. It really would feel like an organic progression, then, for the big guy himself to put in an appearance.

How the Emerald Archer and the Dark Knight would come together is plain for all to see. Both are billionaire heads of major corporations, so they could easily know each other. In fact, we know for certain that they do, or at least will. An easter egg in The Flash season one saw a newspaper from the future mentioning that WayneTech and Queen Consolidated had merged.

So if Batman really were to appear on Arrow, Bruce Wayne could travel to Star City, allegedly on a business trip but really because he is on the hunt for some criminal who has escaped from Gotham (Riddler? Two-Face? Joker? Take your pick). He would no doubt come into conflict with the Green Arrow for trespassing on his patch before the pair team up to defeat the villain. A classic tried-and-tested superhero crossover formula, yes, but sometimes the old ways work just fine.

It has to be said that Arrow’s fifth season’s premiere lacked the big hook of its compatriots – Flash had Flashpoint, Supergirl had Superman, Legends has the JSA – so adding Batman in time for its sixth season, say, would put Arrow back up there as a must-watch series.
