The fourth season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. kicked off with its Ghost Rider storyline (or “pod”) before moving on to the LMD arc, but it’s this current batch of HYDRA/Framework episodes that have garnered the most acclaim from fans and critics alike. This last pod will close-out the season, and ABC has now set a date for the finale, telling us that we’ll find out if our heroes manage to escape the Framework on Tuesday, May 16.
Before that, though, the team still has to deal with Madame HYDRA/Aida and her forces, while attempting to get everyone on the same page in order to launch their escape. Last night, we found out that Aida’s ultimate goal is to create a human body for herself, thus allowing her to break her programming and eliminate everyone that’s locked into the framework. Plus, with Anton’s help, she’s discovered the whereabouts of Daisy and Simmons in the real world, which means the clock is most definitely ticking.
The promo for next week’s episode teases a tense race against time, and it looks like one member of the team may have to make the ultimate sacrifice in order for his friends to make it out of the Framework. Would they really kill off Coulson… again? Not if May has anything to say about it.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns for its twentieth season 4 episode, “Farewell, Cruel World!”, next Tuesday night.
