When Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. broke for its winter hiatus a couple of weeks ago, several storylines – including the featured Ghost Rider arc – were wrapped up for the time being, but there’s going to be plenty more for our heroes to deal with over the course of the remaining season 4 episodes. The promo for January’s return instalment teased some of the dangers that await Coulson and co. next month, and now a new synopsis gives us an even better idea of what to expect.
The new “LMD” subtitle already made it pretty clear that Dr. Radcliffe’s beautiful android Aida would be the new big bad, but it seems the Agents are also going to have to contend with the reemergence of The Watchdogs, and a “mysterious benefactor” that’s funding the organization.
On the heels of their encounter with Ghost Rider, their strangest phenomenon yet, the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. suddenly find themselves up against a myriad of new and ongoing threats: The anti-Inhuman Watchdogs are gaining political influence with Senator Nadeer, and uniting behind a mysterious benefactor. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to the team, Aida has kidnapped Agent May and replaced her with a Life Model Decoy. Aida’s evil plans for May and the team remain a mystery
Be sure to tune in to ABC on January 10th for what will no doubt be an eventful return for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
