Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. closed out its Ghost Rider arc in last night’s winter finale with style, answering several questions that have lingered since the fourth season began. Of course, it also raised a few new ones in the process. Mack and Yo-Yo finally hooked up, Robbie Reyes confronted his evil uncle Eli, Mace suited-up and turned out to be pretty damn awesome, and in the end we discovered that May was actually a life model decoy created by Aida. Yep, that last one did raise a few eyebrows.
Now that Ghost Rider’s story is over (for the time being, anyway), the second half of the season has been renamed “LMD,” and seems to be setting up Dr. Radcliffe’s beautiful android as the new big bad. As far as we can tell, Aida must have switched the real Agent May for her robotic doppelganger right after she saved her life a few episodes back, though her endgame remains a mystery.
The promo for January’s return episode does reveal that Radcliffe and co. are going to discover what Aida has been up to, however, and violence is going to ensue. It also features the official announcement of a new six-part digital series called Slingshot, which is set to debut on December 13 and will focus on Yo-Yo Rodriguez (Natalia Cordova) and her “secret mission.”
Be sure to tune in to ABC on January 10th for what will no doubt be an eventful return of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
