After a thirteen-year long wait, one of television’s most popular sci-fi series is headed back to the small screen. The X-Files revival miniseries is due to premiere at the end of this month, with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reprising their roles as the intrepid FBI Special Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. Fans the world over have been furiously binge-watching the previous nine seasons to get themselves ‘in the know’ before it debuts, but if you’re not fussy, check out the new trailer that’s dropped online today.
Granted, there’s been a lot of pre-release marketing spiel from the network. Promos, teasers, posters, featurettes… you name it, Fox has shot it, packaged it and released it to hordes of X-Philes hungry and willing to lap up every morsel of new information. In which case, this latest trailer ought to satisfy those desires. Why? Because it opens on an sun-dappled hillock that’s all of a sudden torn up by a flying saucer that crashes to the ground, flinging up flaming debris with it.
Fox kickstarts its new revival of The X-Files with a special two-night event beginning Sunday, January 24 at 10:00 PM ET. The second part of the pilot will arrive the following night, Monday, January 25 at 8:00 PM ET.
