FX and Noah Hawley’s Legion continues to add to its ensemble today, with Deadline reporting that Amber Midthunder (Banshee) has joined the X-Men TV series as Kerry.
News arrives mere days after the mutant offshoot recruited Jeremie Harris, who is on board to play Ptonomy, a reclusive and sarcastic character that was once held up as a child prodigy, only to have the reputation slip between his fingers all too quickly. There’s also Aubrey Plaza, Jean Smart and Downton Abbey alum Dan Stevens, with the latter anchoring Hawley’s anticipated spinoff as Charles Xavier’s son – McAvoy or Stewart? These timelines are so confusing.
In terms of how Midthunder fits into the story, Deadline notes that her character of Kerry is described as “a woman of action with a childlike sense of wonder. A true savant, Kerry has lived a sheltered, but never dull life.”
Beyond that vague description, character specifics for Legion are being kept to a minimum for now. Arguably the one mutant that we know the most about at this early stage is Stevens’ David Haller. A mercurial and powerful persona, Haller is a diagnosed schizophrenic who is struggling to differentiate between reality and the nagging voices and visions inside his head, though the real kicker is that each of his disparate personalities control their own unique gift. Color us intrigued.
Legion has now set sights on a production start early next month, with FX and Noah Hawley aligning their new series for a premiere during the fall.
