Under holy orders (?), Dominic Cooper’s chain-smoking West Texas reverend Jesse Custer sets off on a mission to find God in the riotous full trailer for Preacher season 2.
Pegged for a premiere on Monday, June 19th, the second season of AMC’s ungodly series sends Custer on a mission to New Orleans as his search for the almighty intensifies. He won’t do so alone, of course, and up above you’ll see the familiar faces of Tulip O’Hare (Ruth Negga) and Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) as they attempt to avoid the relentless Saint of Killers by any means necessary.
Elsewhere on the casting docket, Preacher season 2 has also made room in its rank for six newcomers: Noah Taylor, Pip Torrens, Julie Ann Emery, Malcolm Barrett, Ronald Guttman and Justin Prentice of 13 Reasons Why. Little is currently known about how each of their respective characters will factor into the 13-part story, but with the full trailer now out in the wild, expect AMC to conjure up further details over the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg – two of the key creative forces behind the scenes of AMC’s adaptation – directed season 2’s pilot episode, “On The Road,” from a screenplay by Sam Catlin.
Heaven, Hell, Texas and soon, a second season. Preacher returns with an expanded sophomore run – up to 13 episodes over the original lot of 10 – on Monday, June 19th at 9:00 pm ET/PT. AMC’s small-screen rendition of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s comic series has undoubtedly carved out a cult following to call its own, but will that translate to strong ratings – and, potentially, a season 3 order – in two weeks’ time? Stay tuned for more.
