Yes, as you surely know by now, American Horror Story: 1984 is expected to premiere some time this fall and producer Tim Minear is already guaranteeing big things.

“I think it’s gonna be really scary but a lot of fun, like it always is,” he says. “If you have a taste for ’80s horror, you’re in for a treat.”

If fans weren’t already excited, they certainly will be now. Little is known about the ninth season of the Emmy-award winning anthology show, other than the title and setting. It’s also been confirmed that Emma Roberts and Sarah Paulson will once again be in the cast, starring alongside Olympic medalist Gus Kenworthy. Unfortunately, though, series mainstay Evan Peters is not expected to return.

Creator and writer Ryan Murphy has purposefully left fans in the dark in regards to what the anticipated ninth season will entail, and even star Paulson has no clue as to what will take place onscreen this autumn. Still, Minear is confident that Murphy will once again wow audiences with the kind of bone-chilling terror they’ve come to expect from him:

“What I would say is that this has been an area that Ryan has talked about since I’ve known him and it’s just a real sweet spot for him. And I think it was time for him to do it.”

Judging by the quality Murphy has consistently provided fans with for years, it isn’t hard to believe that he’ll once again rise to the occasion. Right now, however, it’s difficult to predict what direction the season will take. The title could allude to possible government overreach, as well as tying in several slasher elements that were prevalent in the brief teaser trailer.

The only thing that anyone other than Murphy can say for sure is that American Horror Story: 1984 is sure to be chock full of disturbing surprises, and we simply cannot wait.
