Arrow 8×02 Episode Title Calls Back To Season 3

Despite the fact that we're still very much in the dark when it comes to Arrow season 8's overall storyline, more details come to light with each passing week. Most recently, we learned that Oliver Queen is indeed working with the Monitor, thereby cementing the idea that the final ten episodes will serve as a prelude of sorts to the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover event.

Despite the fact that we’re still very much in the dark when it comes to Arrow season 8’s overall storyline, more details come to light with each passing week. Most recently, we learned that Oliver Queen is indeed working with the Monitor, thereby cementing the idea that the final ten episodes will serve as a prelude of sorts to the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover event.

From the look of it, the first few installments will pay tribute to past seasons. The premiere, which is titled “Starling City,” is expected to evoke the first season. It’s here that we should learn more about the returning Tommy Merlyn, who’ll be radically different from the original iteration we came to know.

Beyond that, it appears as though episode 8×02 will callback to season 3. Thanks to executive producer and showrunner Beth Schwartz, we can present to you an image showing off the screenplay for “Welcome to Hong Kong.” Seen below, the photo first made its rounds over on Twitter.

As you should recall, Hong Kong served as the backdrop for season 3’s flashback segments. Because of that, we can only wonder which guest stars from that era could return for another go-round. If we’re lucky, we’ll be reunited with Cynthia Addai-Robinson’s Amanda Waller and/or Rila Fukushima’s Katana. I’m just not so sure about Matt Nable’s Ra’s al Ghul, because he was the big bad for the present-day scenes.

Those of you who follow Arrowverse producers on social media know that they sometimes drop other hints in these photos, therefore suspicion will be cast on that bronze-looking Green Arrow statue. But since I’m well aware of Stephen Amell’s displeasure toward the classic hat from the comics, I don’t think this is hinting at yet another new costume to be worn by the lead actor.

Arrow returns with new episodes on Tuesday, October 15th on The CW.
