Marvel’s Mightiest Heroes are great and all, but what would an Avengers-style team-up movie be like if it featured a mash-up of Disney’s finest? Well, this new fan-edit of the Avengers: Infinity War trailer (seen below) imagines just that, as the teaser is remade beat for beat using clips from your favourite movies from the House of Mouse.
Apart from the clever swapping out of Infinity War scenes with their closest match in Disney movies, the fun in this trailer is seeing which cartoon characters replace the Avengers line-up. For instance, Tony Stark becomes Aladdin, Doctor Strange morphs into Genie, Scarlet Witch and Vision are now Lady and the Tramp, Thor is Hercules (natch), Peter Parker is Max Goof, Bucky Barnes is Peter Pan, and so on.
Perhaps the best match-ups, though, are the villains. Obviously, The Lion King‘s Scar takes the place of Loki, another trickster villain who’s the jealous brother of the king of the land. Likewise, swapping Thanos out for Jafar is good thinking. Both are hugely powerful within their own movies and their aim is to get their hands on a Macguffin: the Infinity Gauntlet/the Genie’s lamp.
The best bit, however, comes in the final stinger. In place of Thor’s meeting with the Guardians of the Galaxy, this Disneyfied trailer has Hercules encounter the toys from Toy Story. All in all, it’s a very well done edit, though we do have one small criticism: whoever put this together missed the perfect match for Black Panther. Instead of Sebastian the crab, T’Challa’s Disney counterpart surely has to be Bagheera, the actual black panther from The Jungle Book.
Considering their back catalog of beloved characters, it’s actually surprising that we’ve never had a proper House of Mouse team-up film before. A Disney princesses crossover movie was announced to be a possibility earlier this year, though, so maybe that could be the start of a Disney Cinematic Universe?
Time will tell, but in the meantime, Avengers: Infinity War should certainly satisfy fans on the crossover front, as it’ll feature a whopping 60 key characters when it blasts into theaters on May 4th, 2018.
