Few actors rise through the ranks as Benedict Cumberbatch, and fewer still are able to juggle primetime projects like Avengers: Infinity War, Sherlock and the TV miniseries Patrick Melrose all within the space of a few short months.
But the British thesp isn’t one to rest on his laurels. Immediately after Marvel’s Infinity War had wrapped, he dove headfirst into Brexit, a politically-driven TV movie about the goings-on behind the scenes of the 2016 referendum and the Vote Leave campaign, which was ultimately successful in its mission to force the United Kingdom out of the European Union.
Cumberbatch headlines the drama as Dominic Cummings, strategist and political advisor to then-Prime Minister David Cameron. Filming now appears to have entered the final stages, though, as the actor’s been spotted on the red carpet of Venice Film Festival sporting a very unusual haircut.
As seen by UK tabloid the Daily Mail, Cumberbatch’s now wearing a clean-shaven haircut, which makes for quite the radical change from the cropped curls fans are used to. Then again, it’s not uncommon for a big-name Hollywood actor to mix things up after completing work on a particularly difficult and challenging role.
So considering Brexit had Benedict Cumberbatch teetering on the edge of baldness for his part as Dominic Cummings, you can’t blame the man for wanting to start afresh; after all, he won’t be back in the MCU as Doctor Strange until mid-way through 2019, and from what we understand, most of the Avengers 4 reshoots have already taken place. Up next is a bona fide sequel to the Sorcerer Supreme’s origin movie…
For Brexit though, Channel 4 is yet to announce a concrete premiere date, but we imagine it’ll be with us sometime before the year’s end.
