October is shaping up to be an incredibly busy month for comic book fans – the kind of month that begins with Venom, sprinkles a little Supergirl and The Flash around the middle, and wraps up with a fourth season of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Like we said, a busy month indeed.
Caught up amongst all this is the second season of Black Lightning, and if the show’s vintage new poster is anything to go by, this year’s installment is about to dial things up to 11, as Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams) prepares to confront old friends and new enemies.
This particularly striking one-sheet comes to us by way of E! News (h/t CBM), and we understand Anissa (Nafessa Williams), Jennifer (China Anne McClain), Lynn (Christine Adams), and villain Tobias Whale (Marvin Jones III) are all returning for another round of comic book action.
Feast thy eyes:
San Diego Comic-Con brought news that Black Lightning season 2 will deep dive into Jefferson’s psyche and his struggles to balance family with living life as a vigilante.
It’s the age-old dynamic for superhero TV shows, but the fact that Black Lightning‘s second season is said to be casting the net for another outsider has us incredibly excited for the show’s return. That Hashtag Show broke news of the addition earlier this week, when it was revealed that The CW was searching for a Caucasian actress in her early 20s, one described as “a youthful looking woman with a soul that has lived for a long time, whose eyes are ethereal and whose look is penetrating.”
Season 2 of Black Lightning is expected to light up The CW from Tuesday, October 9th – precisely two days after The Walking Dead shuffles back onto AMC.
