Starring former Doctor Who David Tennant and Olivia Colman (Peep Show) as Detectives Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller, respectively, the teaser doesn’t reveal much in terms of what fans should expect from this new season. For those who’ve waited 22 months to hear any news whatsoever, though, it is welcomed. Among the most intriguing things found in this teaser is a hot second reveal of Reverend Paul Coates, played by Arthur Darvill (Legends of Tomorrow).

Written and created by Chris Chibnall, Broadchurch began as an investigation of an 11-year-old’s corpse found bloodied and dirty on an idyllic beach, which ensues media madness and a stern police investigation, led by an out-of-town Hardy and Miller, who feels the job is hers. The series has received no shortage of acclaim since premiering and even earned an American remake titled Gracepoint, which was also created by Chibnall and found Tennant playing the same character, just named Emmett Carver this time around, alongside Anna Gunn’s Ellie Miller. The series only saw ten episodes though when it aired in 2014 on Fox as it wasn’t renewed for a second season.
