Check Out The Ominous New Trailer For Homeland Season 4

This October, Showtime's Homeland will be hitting the reset button. Gone is Sergeant Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis), the complex antihero at the heart of the show's first three seasons. Don't expect to see his wife Jessica (Morena Baccarin) or children either - and that's not the only thing that's changed this time around. Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) is no longer in the U.S. - she's been assigned to a dangerous CIA station in the Middle East, where she becomes involved in thwarting a terrorist plot.

This October, Showtime’s Homeland will be hitting the reset button. Gone is Sergeant Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis), the complex antihero at the heart of the show’s first three seasons. Don’t expect to see his wife Jessica (Morena Baccarin) or children either – and that’s not the only thing that’s changed this time around. Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) is no longer in the U.S. – she’s been assigned to a dangerous CIA station in the Middle East, where she becomes involved in thwarting a terrorist plot.

Season 4 will also see Carrie interact with new characters, including Sandy Bachman (Corey Stoll), the CIA’s chief of station in Pakistan; and Martha Boyd (Laila Robins), the U.S. ambassador to Pakistan. It won’t be all unfamiliar faces, however – Carrie’s close allies Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin) and Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) are still in the mix.

The enigmatic new trailer for the season doesn’t shed much light on the story this time around, though it does work as a nice reminder for us to mark our calendars. Though Homeland has been increasingly less interesting since its Emmy-winning first season, largely due to the Brody storyline overtaking Carrie’s development, season 4 will give the writers a great chance to get back to basics. The question is, will you still be watching?

Season 4 of Homeland arrives on October 6th, only on Showtime.
