One of the many big hooks for next month’s big Arrowverse crossover, titled “Elseworlds” is the return of Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman who will this time be accompanied by Lois Lane, as played by Elizabeth Tulloch. Previous set photos have revealed that we’ll get to see the Daily Planet’s finest reporters at home on the Kent farm and as a special bonus for fans, it’s the same farm that Smallville filmed on for ten years.
Now, we’ve got our first official look at Clark and Lois on the farm that once belonged to Ma and Pa Kent. EW shared the following promo photo which sees Hoechlin and Tulloch in character as they talk in front of a pick-up truck, with cousin Kara in the background.
Supergirl herself, Melissa Benoist, spoke to EW about what it was like filming the scene, revealing that it felt iconic and like a true slice of Americana.
“I felt like we should’ve been eating apple pie and waving American flags. It was such Americana, and there were pickup trucks and Lois Lane had a toolbox and was working on a car. That iconic relationship of Lois and Clark, [Tyler and Elizabeth] have just totally embraced it.”
One snap from the set revealed that it won’t just be the two Kryptonians and the journalist at this location but their pal Barry Allen could pop by the Kent farm as well, as The Flash star Grant Gustin was seen in front of the farmhouse. Known to be a massive Superman fan, he might just have wanted to be around to witness filming but, seeing as the crossover will feature all the heroes teaming up, it makes sense that he’d be involved in any sequences shot at the farm.
On the topic of Tulloch’s portrayal of Superman’s girlfriend, Benoist praised the Grimm actress as the perfect Lois Lane as well as promising that the writers have done a great job at nailing the character.
“She is such a force to be reckoned with, and Elizabeth is perfect for it. The way they’ve written her in this world, she’s a firebolt and really sassy and awesome. I think people will really respond to her.”
There’s only a few short weeks now until “Elseworlds” unites the Arrowverse on the week beginning December 9th, and we can hardly wait.
