One of the upcoming television shows that really has my interest is Showtime’s Homeland. The network has kept pretty secretive on this one so far but at Comic-Con they released a 4 minute sneak peek and it looks absolutely fantastic.
The psychological thriller follows “a missing POW (Damian Lewis) who returns home only to come under the suspicions of a CIA agent (Claire Danes) as being a sleeper cell turncoat.”
It’s an intriguing concept and one that can work really well on a network like Showtime. It will premiere after Dexter on October 2, 2011 and it looks very promising.
Howard Gordon, the executive producer on 24, is the man behind Homeland and I think it would be safe to expect the same kind of heightened tension and intense storyline. Both Danes and Lewis are capable actors and after watching the preview below, I’m mighty excited for this one.
Check out the video below and let us know what you think.
HOMELAND, a one-hour drama, is a psychological thriller starring Claire Danes as a CIA officer who becomes convinced that the intelligence that led to the rescue of a U.S. soldier (Damian Lewis) who had been missing and presumed dead was a set-up and may be connected to an Al Qaeda plot to be carried out on American soil. Mandy Patinkin plays a veteran CIA Division Chief who is her boss and mentor. HOMELAND is written by Howard Gordon, Alex Gansa and Gideon Raff will be produced by FOX 21.
