Next month, HBO will finally debut The Idol after a troubled production cycle. The film — about a troubled pop star trying to rebuild her career through interacting with a cult leader — recently received a screening at Cannes and, aside from grabbing attention for its explicit nature, an unmissable cameo is also proving to be a major highlight for festival attendees and some excited fans.
Sentiment like the above is circulating on Twitter and suggests Demie could be alluding to her character from Levinson’s equally controversial Euphoria show when The Idol releases its initial episode. This has been confirmed by Vulture, which appears to suggest Demie is just in the background and has no lines and, while this may be the case, fans of the actress are hyped with one going as far as to suggest they’re only interested in watching the show to catch her brief appearance in a location’s background.
As nothing is out yet and Levinson is involved with both shows, it is possible Demie could end up sticking around for longer, but fans will just have to exercise patience in finding out just how extensive the cameo is when The Idol premieres June 4 on Max. Levinson is confident in it and has gone as far as to speculate on it being the show of the summer and – as far as controversy with respect to a toxic set environment and gratuitous sexual content is concerned, has denied both and says these notions are foreign.
