When Matt Ryan debuted on NBC’s live action Constantine series a few years back, most fans were in agreement that the producers had found the best live action Hellblazer possible. Unfortunately, the network didn’t think ratings were up to snuff and cancelled the show after only 13 episodes. On the plus side, Ryan has since continued playing the character in various other projects, those being Arrow, Justice League Dark and an animated web series slated for release via the CW Seed online streaming service (see the above trailer).
Naturally, one would think a show such as Legends of Tomorrow would provide a decent way for John Constantine to rejoin the Arrowverse due to its ability to pluck DC heroes and villains from wherever they may exist on the timestream. In fact, executive producer and showrunner Phil Klemmer expressed interest in doing so in an interview a couple months ago.
Now, ComicBook.com has learned that the demonologist will indeed be joining forces with the Waverider crew at some point during season 3 – it just hasn’t been made clear as to when, or what the parameters of that team-up may be. Regardless, this confirmation is enough to make any DC fan jump for joy.
Still, we can make an educated guess as to how things may come about. When appearing on Arrow, Constantine alluded to having a prior run-in with Damien Darhk, whom we know to be showing up this year. Additionally, Kuasa will be entering the fold and, knowing how her family is deeply rooted in mysticism, it’s looking more and more like Sara Lance and company will have their hands full with the unexplainable, thus creating the need for outside help.
Legends of Tomorrow returns for its third season on Tuesday, October 10 on The CW.
