4 Daredevil Easter Eggs And What They Mean For Future Seasons

This past weekend, Marvel and Netflix debuted their first project together, Daredevil (you can read our review here). While the show itself plays well as a standalone origin tale for the Man Without Fear, it also cleverly and carefully connects to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which means that there are plenty of Easter eggs, references, and pieces of connective tissue to look out for.

Stick

At the end of Daredevil‘s seventh episode, Stick (Scott Glenn), Matt’s former blind mentor, is seen reporting to a mysterious man played by Jasson Finney. We don’t definitively learn who Finney’s playing in the actual episode, but the credits list him as Stone, Stick’s favorite student and a fellow member of mystical martial arts cult The Chaste.

Stick, the Chaste, and Stone are all important members of the Daredevil mythos, and will likely gain more prominence and screentime in future seasons of the series. Stick not only trained Daredevil, but Elektra as well, and leads the Chaste against the demonic Japanese cult known as The Hand (more on them later).

If Daredevil‘s writers wish to delve into the ninja side of the hero’s mythology, they certainly planted an exciting seed and now have a good place to start.
