While Marvel hasn’t had the best luck with their television shows on ABC, the studio’s efforts on Netflix are an entirely different story. Starting with Daredevil back in 2015, it’s been one hit after another for them on the streaming service, with the street-level heroes proving to be immediate fan-favorites. There’s still one more character left to get his own series, and that’s Iron Fist. That will soon be rectified though as Danny Rand will punch his way onto Netflix next month, at which point all eyes will then turn towards The Defenders.
Currently shooting in NYC, the miniseries will bring together Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Daredevil and Iron Fist as they unite to face off against Sigourney Weaver’s Alexandra. It’s a showdown that’s set to be suitably epic, and though we haven’t seen any footage from the series just yet, the set photos have been pouring out at an alarming rate. That trend looks set to continue today, too, as Getty has debuted a brand new batch (though since they’re copyrighted, you’ll have to access them using the link at the bottom of this article).
[zergpaid]Coming to us courtesy of photographer Steve Sands, the pics show Luke, Jessica and Daredevil (not in costume) catching a ride on the New York City subway. Where they’re headed and the whereabouts of one Danny Rand aren’t known, but it’s nice to get another look at everyone together and has us excited for their eventual team-up. Of course, the titular heroes won’t be alone, as they’ll be getting some help from more than a few familiar faces.
That’s because The Defenders is also set to start most of the supporting cast from each of the individual Netflix shows. That means you can look forward to seeing Elektra (Élodie Yung), Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson), Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor), Jeri Hogarth (Carrie-Anne Moss), Misty Knight (Simone Missick), Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson) and many, many more. It’s going to be a jam packed series, to be sure, but it’ll no doubt be a ton of fun for fans to see everyone come together on screen and interact with one another.
Though The Defenders is still without a release date, it’s expected to arrive at some point in the summer. Until then, we can look forward to Iron Fist making its way onto Netflix on March 17th. It’s still over a month away, but to make the wait a bit easier, check out the recently released trailer below.
