Apart from the great drama, Daredevil’s first season was a real treat for comics fans as it was stuffed full of references to the character's source material. Everything from the gritty acclaimed work of Frank Miller to the Matt Murdock's wackier early days were nodded to in the series.

If you’ve been paying attention, you will know that Roxxon are one of the most prominent antagonists of the whole of the MCU. While they haven’t really had their time in the limelight yet, the company has appeared in all three Iron Man movies, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter. They were also briefly mentioned in season one of Daredevil.

In season two, they get a more substantial role, as Matt and Elektra investigate Roxxon’s Japanese arm – Asano Robotics – which is in league with the Hand. Incidentally, Asano is its own separate company in the comics and is led by Yoshida Asano, an enemy of Tony Stark’s.

Speaking of Marvel corporations, when Karen visits Ben Urich’s old office at the New York Bulletin, you can see a framed front page with the headline ‘Cybertek Settles.’ This refers to the HYDRA-led organization that created Deathlok in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
