In season one, we got a chance to get to know Jack Murdock, Matt’s father, through flashback scenes. However, apart from the odd vague reference, we have never met his mother. Or have we?

Season two’s third episode opens with a memory of Matt’s childhood where he is being treated by a nun at St Agnes’ Orphanage. We don’t know much about her, but she is clearly very fond of the boy and seems to have a different mentality to Matt’s boxing father telling him “don’t get up, Matty, stay down.”

In the comics storyline ‘Born Again’ by Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli, Matt discovers that the mother he thought dead is actually living as, guess what, a nun. There is nothing to suggest that this is Matt’s mother, but we’re pretty certain that this is leading to an adaptation of the fan-favourite ‘Born Again’ storyline. Perhaps it will form the crux of season three?
