DC Universe Shows Will Occupy The Same Continuity

Ever since the DC Universe streaming service and the various series comprising it were announced, fans have been wondering if it'll crossover with the Arrowverse, as well as questioning if the entities occupy the same space. Ever since the DC Universe streaming service and the various series comprising it were announced, fans have been wondering if it’ll crossover with the Arrowverse, as well as questioning if the entities occupy the same space. Based on the red tape alone, our earliest of assumptions says it won’t happen because this platform and The CW are separate beasts.

On the plus side, it looks like we have another shared universe being built right before our eyes. In fact, The Hollywood Reporter casually said as much when recently revealing that April Bowlby has been cast as Doom Patrol‘s Elasti-Woman. In their own words, “DC Universe, the forthcoming SVOD service, is officially building out its own universe.”

To be honest, this doesn’t come as much of a shocker because, after all, Doom Patrol will emerge as a Titans spinoff. Still, knowing that Swamp Thing is going about his business under the same sun allows for us to ponder many exciting possibilities. Who knows, maybe the three shows could even one day crossover to produce something as awesome as, say, “Crisis on Earth-X”?

Of course, the wild card in this is Harley Quinn, since it’ll be animated. Even so, we can’t rule out some overlap. After all, the Arrowverse we keep mentioning consists of both live action and animated tales. When it comes to Young Justice: Outsiders, however, that’ll obviously be its own thing.

DC Universe is set to launch sometime this fall via iOS, Android, Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Android TV, in addition to offering online and mobile access. But before going whole hog, a beta test is expected to takeoff in August, so stay tuned as more details emerge.
