Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars Universe and won the hearts of millions of fans, is arguably one of the irreplaceable characters of the saga.
After all, given his iconic role in the original trilogy, it won’t be completely off the mark to say that Hamill has somehow become synonymous with the franchise. Even so, plenty of fans expressed their disapproval when The Mandalirian and The Book of Boba Fett showrunners resorted to some digital miracles to create a younger Luke.
In the show, we saw that the face of Hamill and his body double Graham Hamilton were blended using the technology and the result was miraculous. We got a complete lookalike of a youthful Skywalker that we’ve been familiar with for decades.
As pointed out earlier, this technological breakthrough hasn’t been well-received by many fans who are of the opinion that rather than relying on VFX, the showrunners should allow opportunities for other actors to play the role of a young Luke.
The argument was posted by a Reddit user named, u/ctopherrun who displayed a post of a CGI image of the character underneath which mentioned that this digital creation was preferred over an aspiring actor who bore a striking resemblance Hamill as it was.
The opinion received enormous support and the entire is filled with claims in favor of hiring new actors over digital trickery. With the franchise reigning over decades, it won’t cost much to incorporate new faces with new storylines. After all, fans will always love almost anything related to Star Wars regardless of who it features.
