Disney Plus has finally restored ‘Marvel Studios Legends’ episodes after removing them for spoilers

An embarrassing moment for the usually spoiler-wary Marvel Studios.

Marvel Studios Legends is invaluable for keeping up with what’s going on in the MCU. These documentaries focus on a specific character, object or group, and generally arrive just prior to a big release. For example, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was preceded by episodes about The Winter Soldier, Falcon, Zem, and Sharon Carter, while another reminded us of the whole deal with the Tesseract just before Loki premiered on Disney Plus.

This unassuming show generated a surprising amount of controversy at the end of 2022, though, by doing much too good of a job of filling in the blanks on the characters. A pair of new installments based around Drax and Mantis were released on November 23, two days before The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special aired. The Mantis documentary revealed that Peter Quill and Mantis were brother and sister via deleted scenes from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, spoiling the heartwarming final reveal of the festive one-off.

Fans were annoyed by the spoiler and, in response, Disney Plus pulled both episodes. As of today they’re back online to enjoy, with Marvel Studios presumably figuring that nobody’s going to be spoiled on this anymore.

Kevin Feige and company generally run a tight ship on spoilers, so it’s surprising that this one slipped through the net, even if anyone who thought through Ego, Peter Quill, and Mantis’ connection would have sussed out this years ago.

We expect further Marvel Studios Legends episodes to land prior to the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, possibly covering Cassie Lang, Kang, and Scott Lang himself. After this embarrassing goof, we suspect they’ll be gone over with a fine tooth comb to avoid any unpleasant surprises.

Marvel Studios Legends are available to stream on Disney Plus.
