Disney and the Insane Clown Posse are two groups that are just so extremely alike, right? Of course not! So, it comes as a shock to realize that not only does the family-friendly company have a star in their roster that also was featured in a movie filmed by the group, but that said star created one of the biggest TV programs for kids currently airing on Disney Junior. What a career change!
For those who aren’t Juggalos, Psychopathic Video has actually been a part of over 40 different productions, including two feature films. The one that is of particular interest today is Big Money Hustlas, a direct-to-video detective feature that paid homage to the exploitation films of the ’70s. Don’t go around thinking the movie wasn’t popular either because it was the number one music video on the Billboard charts when it debuted and even rivaled Sixth Sense and American Pie in initial film sales in 2000.
While the film had several big-name cameos from wrestling legends like Mick Foley and beyond, the role of Officer Harry Cox was played by former Disney star Harland Williams. He’s even featured prominently in the ridiculously long trailer for the film.
Before hooking up with the Insane Clown Posse, Williams had starred in Disney’s RocketMan back in 1997, a film that oddly enough was far less successful than Big Money Hustlas and resulted in a net loss for the company. But his claim to fame now is creating the Daytime Emmy Award-winning children’s show Puppy Dog Pals. Yeah, that’s right, the star of an Insane Clown Posse film went on to create one of the biggest Disney properties for literal children.
This isn’t the only family-friendly media Williams has gone on to be a part of, either. He has an extensive list of credits — including films like Horrible Histories, Because of Winn-Dixie, and even worked beside Robin Williams in Blue Sky Studio’s Robots in 2005. Not to mention his continued voice acting for Disney movies like Meet the Robinsons and Spooky Buddies.
There’s a lot of talk these days about actors who do questionable things still getting starring roles, but in this case, Harland Williams has simply shown that someone can have a startlingly wide and diverse career in film and television. He’s proof that it’s possible to go from the most raunchy adult entertainment possible to making things kids adore. So, maybe people should spend less time shunning stars like Maitland Ward and just be impressed by the massive media web spun by these incredibly talented individuals able to play so many different roles. You never know where an actor’s career might lead them!
