Yes, Dwayne Johnson’s sharp-suited Spencer Strasmore is prepping for a return to the sun-kissed streets of Miami with Ballers season 2, and a new teaser released today drums up excitement for the show’s sophomore bow on July 17.
Much to the surprise of no one, Johnson simply oozes charisma in the clip above, and the actor’s star power is part of the reason Ballers season 1 became such a runaway success – the inaugural run stands as HBO’s most-watched half-hour show since 2009. It even broke past records established by Entourage, and fans will be pleased to note that Ballers season 2 looks set to uphold those creative inspirations for all to see.
Threatening to dampen Spencer Strasmore’s triumphant return as the likeable, top-tier agent is Andy Garcia’s big bad, who causes Johnson’s lead all manner of havoc as a slick, conniving businessman. Also on board for the show’s hotly-anticipated second season are John David Washington, Omar Miller, Donovan W. Carter, Troy Garity, London Brown and Jazmyn Simon.
