It’s a worldwide tradition that’s almost becoming as common as America’s apple pie and baseball. Fans love show. Horrible people cancel show. Outraged fans storm Twitter. Petition to save said show begins.
Well folks, we’re now in stage four of the recently axed Syfy series, Krypton. This is not a drill. The once-popular channel, which is apparently only going to show terrible zombie and shark-themed (and sometimes both at once) series from now on, has cancelled the seemingly popular show and fans are furious.
The cancellation is fresh, too, so the reactions are still kicking off, but they’re picking up steam. So much so, in fact, that over on Change.org, a petition has been started to get the show back. The Netherlands viewer who started it is named Emre Kaya and their petition is currently just shy of 700 supporters, with a goal of 1,000. For now, of course.
Here’s Emre’s simple plea:
Recently, SyFy’s “Krypton” got canceled, together with its unreleased spin-off “Lobo”. Any fan of this show can say that this cancellation is unfair and that this show should’ve had 7 seasons (like originally planned by the writers).
Please help us renew the show.
For those who don’t know, Krypton is a totally different take on Superman’s story, which is one of the reasons it’s so popular. Sure, the ratings dipped a bit in the second season, but come on, Syfy. The sophomore slump is no reason to cancel such a young show.
Krypton depicted the Man of Steel’s home planet before it implodes, and followed his grandfather, Seg-El, played by Cameron Cuffe. In the second season finale, Supes’ father Jor-El had just been born and baby-napped by Brainiac. It was a suspenseful ending, and perhaps suitable for a series finale, if it does come to that. But fans are hoping Syfy pulls their head out and renews the show, or ships it and its planned spinoff Lobo, off to another channel or platform.
